XT600e (4PT) Suspension Link bushes

Post by philb »

Guys,

Now these bushes (90386-20123) are wankered...

Image

I've already bought a new sleeve (35) and the bolt is okay.

I don't want to pay £22.55 each for these from Yamaha UK as I'm a tight fecker.... Anyone found any aftermarket bushes or kits with these bushes in or had some made??

hi, they're known as Glacier bushes.
They are often used in extreme conditions, agriculture, forestry etc.
You can get them in various types but the two common types are DX or DU.
Both have a PTFE lining but the DX has the indents to keep grease or oil in them, the DU is plain. Both will work well with no problem for the application we're using them.
I've used them on various motorcycles for at least the last ten years.
Make sure the hole you're inserting them into is clean and well prepared, and ideally use or vice or proper press, otherwise you'll destroy them.
You can also use oilite bushes in the same application, which are more forgiving than the glacier bushes when pressing them in.
You should also check the bearing surface on the fastener, part number 36 on the diagram. If the bush is damaged it's guaranteed to have damaged the bolt.
Here's one from ebay:

Either way you'll make a huge cost saving over buying Yamaha.

Cadno,

The bolt shank is in good condition so that's not a worry, but sound advice thanks.

Is this the right size bush for the job... I'm sat about 20 miles away from the bike at the mo so I can't measure it up... if it is I can order it at work.. :shades:

Cheers!

Yes just checked, that's the one. You'll need two of them.
I think they're the same as bush 20 in the slide below.
