In my mind I saw rusty bearingrollers crushing against totally worn surfaces.
Again in comparision to my new steering bearing in my my TT it felt really bad!
So some days ago I took the frontend apart:

Here is the promised picture for Karl:

And here is the upper bearing:

smooth and nice....
Here is the lower bearing:

again: smooth and nice. No grooves as known from the lower ones.
But when I took a picture from below ... :

Here you can see clearly that there are marks left behind...
You don´t feel them... you just can see them because the surface is diffrent as the light comes in diffrent.
Funny. From the first foto of the lower bearing I would have said: Well, this bearing is ok for the next 50000 Km.
But the second lets me doubt this.
