1JK cylinder head..price drop

Post by Zonda »

Well lesson learn't, I bought this sight unseen and had it sent straight to "Enoggera Cylinder Heads" here in Brisbane. Well I picked it up today only to discover it's not for a 3TB (600E).
So I'm into it just on $400, as can be seen it's in really nice condition and the cam tunnel is spot on. The base head has been blasted and the valves cut and seated, new genuine Yamaha valve stem seals fitted.

No bolts, screws, valve lifter or valve adjustment access covers included.

$300and will ship Australia wide at your expense
OR
will swap for a 3TB head in similar condition

I've put it up on Gumtree at $400, if you want to deal through there I'll only charge $350 offered here :thumb:

Well this is the problem, it was advertised as a XT600 head, this afternoon I contacted the seller and he thinks it came from a SRX600 but is not sure so he advertised it as XT600. It's to late to return the head obviously.

Charlie, Thanks mate for clarifying the exact model it came from.
Anyone know the difference between this head and the XT600 head?

It could well be nothing, maybe the code just preceeded our 34K.

Is the breather tube on the rocker cover on the 1JK head? If so should fit straight onto any early XT/ TT600 ??

It doesn't have a breather tube on the cam cover, but it looks to have the a blank where one could be used.

OK so it should fit straight onto a 1VJ tenere as they use early style head and I dont think they have breather in the valve cover. Can use this head on an early pre 88 XT600 but will require a breather tube to be installed back into the valve cover.
