Fuel tap problems

Hello all. I'm hoping someone can offer some advice. Ive just rebuilt both my fuel taps as they leaked quiet badly. I used a good quality kit. Once done I put fresh fuel in and it started seeping out of the 2 bolt holes on both taps... Is there meant to be a fibre washer on these bolts?

A rubber o ring on each I think

Yep part number 90202-06010-00

But double check that number against the fiche.

thanks guys. im not sure if that part number is the kit i ordered. here is a picture of the kit i bought for each side



it was an easy job to be honest. i cleaned everything really well.



you can see the old seal in there. i put the new one in after cleaning it all up...is this the seal you are refering to?



all installed and ready to go. but as soon as i put fuel in , it leaked down the threads of the main to bolts. its as if they go straight into the tank and the fuel is running down them and dripping

I thought it was a fibrous washer used? been ages since i did mine, Yamaha`s description is WASHER,PLATE useful.

That is correct, a fiber washer goes under each screw. they seal against the flange of the screw. I usually put a bit of Yamabond on the seal between the tank and fuel valve. No leaks.

I use copper washers on the tap bolts, I also anneal them first

I bought a bag of sealing washers (MC Master Carr), they have a rubber inside with a steel outer strip to contain the rubber . I also usually put a little Moto Seal on the bolt threads themselves just to create a second line of defense. Don't get carries away with the amount , just enough to fill the voids and let sit overnight to cure fully. RVT won't work.
