Re: 3AJ values?

Interesting, thanks for the steer. I mentioned the swingarm and the suspension as they were expensive and I've never had to touch the engine, but good to hear what people are thinking. Mileage - ~50k. History - not really, I've had it for ten years and kept some of the receipts. Not an import, 10 ...

Re: 3AJ values?

Hmm, well here's a photo of what it used to look like before I put nice blue plastics on. Includes ghetto luggage system.

It's in a friend's lock up some distance from me so getting current pictures is going to have to wait until I can get ...

3AJ values?

I thought I'd never do it but I think the 3AJ has to go, it's got a Wilbers rear shock and a Dave Lambeth refurbed swingarm and a decent set of blue plastics. On the minus column the gear lever is welded onto the shaft and one of the cam cover bolts has stripped a thread. The tank is also dented and ...

Re: 3AJ carbs for sale

£50 plus postage? No spare front end lying around I'm afraid, though I have got a 3AJ front fairing frame and a caliper or two and master cylinder, all in need of refurbishment.

Re: Rear shock

I got a Wilbers from David Lambeth for my 3AJ and it must have been ~£350. I did some fairly interesting trails and I never had the rear caliper bottom out on the exhaust as I used to and it did seem nicely planted. I'm afraid my skills are too low to give better feedback than that but David Lambeth ...

3AJ carbs for sale

Hi, I've got a spare set of carbs for a 3AJ Tenere and I've realised that I won't need them. They were professionally cleaned a few years ago (6?) but then not used and sat around on my shelf (indoors). I'm not really sure what they're worth and would rather they went into the community. Any ...

Re: Starting

I am super excited about this discovery, thank you for sharing, great to have someone finish a thread like this with a solution. I am also a little worried as this foible has saved my by bike from being stolen in the past... Time to get a better lock.

Re: Starting

I drain it just before starting, I assume the fuel goes off in the float bowl but it could be a air bubble or something similar I suppose.

Re: Starting

I've had this on my bike on two different sets of carbs for years, if I leave the bike for any length of time I have to drain the fuel out of the float bowl before starting. Works every time. I don't know what causes it, I just assumed they all did it!
