Rear shock

Post by thetrecker »

Hi gents,
Its my first post so its probably been covered before... but here goes,
The rear shock is Kaput. I got other shocks (KYB) reconditioned with a local suspension shop for around €145 with ok results, but with the old spring still fitted. In the 3AJ I think the spring is weak and soft so I'd have to replace it too, say that's now up to €260 total.
Kedo do a wilbers Ecoline complete shock for €369 + shipping and a 630/640 for €459.
Is there other options around the €350 mark?
Is the Ecoline a big improvement in damping ( from the oem)?
Any help would be greatly apprec.
Tom

Thanks jibber,
The YSS looks the business and is well priced.

Make sure its the right length, they list 84 on, I know 3AJ and 1VJ are the same length but not sure if they are the same as the 34L or 55W

Same length but the springs are different.... I've posted 'em both on here somewhere...

So, I have read many posts on many forums about looking for an alternative rear shock.... but there is so few reviews of actual replacement rear shocks, and specifically on xt600 or teneres!

So does anyone actually know of a review of a YSS shock on an XT600 or tenere?

The reason I ask is I have come accross a "last years model" of the YSS for the XT that is a VERY good price! and I wasn't planning on replacing my shock so soon... but at this price it seems worth grabbing! :guinness:

Hi,

Do you know if the TTR shocks fit plug & play to the 3AJ?

Thx

I got a Wilbers from David Lambeth for my 3AJ and it must have been ~£350. I did some fairly interesting trails and I never had the rear caliper bottom out on the exhaust as I used to and it did seem nicely planted. I'm afraid my skills are too low to give better feedback than that but David Lambeth should be on you list to call, he knows his stuff.
