I disassembled the starter motor and cleaned the commutator and brushes. I found a lot of brush dust in the housing.
Since to get the starter motor out you need to remove the carbs, I cleaned them again. There might have been some dirt in one of the jets.
I put it all together again, after about 3 weeks being disassembled and it started after barely 2 secs of cranking.
So that's a good thing, right??
I left it for some more days in the garage and then ... back to not starting immediately
Now I removed the fuel pump from the system ... and seeing its internal condition, I almost suspect it was messing with the vaccuum/fuel mixture at the inlet to the engine. I'll write back in a couple days with an update.
