Doghouses' 3YF Pup

Post by doghouse »

Here are a few pics of this winters project,
Image
Not at all pretty but then it doesn't need to be.
Image
The plastics are all comprehensively knackered, the leak on the tank caused by some individual having a go with an overlong panel screw :tosser:
Image
Inner fairing panel missing, wiring is interesting :hss:
Image
I have no idea why the top yoke nut has been welded?
Image
The exhaust is beyond help. I will need a replacement so suggestions please
Image
That is filler in the wheel rim and under it is a lovely crack........so that will be a new rim then

First impressions:
The engine runs but its a smoker....a least 40 a day
The clutct doesn't disengage the gearbox, the guy I got it from provided a complete spare clutch assembly but a look see should reveal all :sherlock:
All plastics need major work or replacement
Rear wheel rim kaput
The battery is a gonna
The carb is all over the place
Lots of little bits and pieces missing
Not sure the coolant system is up to much
The rear disk is warped and the rear brake will need a rebuild

i suspect this is the thin end of the wedge so expect some interesting pics as the strip down starts

Watch this space and wish we me luck, I'm going in. :tease:

Hope you didn't pay much for it Doghouse, sounds like it'll cost more than it's worth to make tidy.

But then, you could make the bike of your dreams :shades:

Had to drill out the totally corroded in, overlong bolt that was holding the water pump onthrough the damaged casing. Once out it revealed.......

:omg: :omg:

Image

Now I'm no expert but that looks f****ed to me.
The coolant that I drained out was pristeen which ain't to surprising when you consider it was probably doing bugger all. I'd love to know how you knacker a pump that badly, I can only come up with cavation as that what happens to a boat prop.

He meant Cavitation Rick, but i don't think the pump impellers would spin fast enough cause that? i think at some stage in its past the bike has been sat standing with plain old water & its simply rusted.
