Front brake problem

Hi, The front brake had not been all that good so thought I would put new pads in and change the fluid but I can't get a brake at all now.
I can see the piston moving out about 1 mm when I pump the lever but it springs back in and there is only a dribble of fluid comes out of the bleed nipple ( have tried the filling from the bottom method mentioned somewhere on here). I striped the master cylinder and everything looks in good condition in there but I still looked into putting new seals in but am having trouble finding someone selling any that fit, ones that people sell claiming they are for this model are about 2 mm too big in diameter.
Any ideas?

The piston in the master cylinder MUST be able to move back far enough to expose the compensating port. The port is a small hole connecting the reservoir to the cylinder. The first 1mm of piston travel blocks the port and enables pressure to build. Adjustment of the distance screw on the lever is a critical to make things work.

Thanks, backed the screw off and managed to get a bit of brake, pumped a lot more fluid through with no sign of any air but lever still feels spongy and almost comes right back to the grip.

Adjust the screw so you have 2-5mm free play on the end of the brake lever.

Your new pads will need bedding in, after about 100 miles the brake should get stronger

Hey Butcherbird, also check that the adjusting screw on the lever is not hitting the switch-throttle housing when you pull the lever in which does not give you full travel of the master cylinder!!! I spent 2 weeks trying to get a solid lever then found out the screw was hitting the housing just before full travel, felt like a real Just had to move the master by 2mm away from the housing.

I wondered where the scarborough thing had come from, google keeps claiming I am from there as well, I'm about 60 miles west.

Checked the lever and can't find anything catching, the brake performance on the road does seem better even though the feel on the lever is not very good, I presume there is no air in there now as the feel of lever had not changed overnight.
