This is what i use for green laning / off roading but there has been an annoying knock from the top end
and its started to get worse at the end of last year.
All i was going to do was take out the engine but by the time i had done it is nearly in bits.
Jobs to sort

Sort out crank
check clutch and replace
install new steering bearing
install new wheel bearing
install new shock and swing arm bearings
replace one leaking fork seal
fit new chain & sprocket

spray or powder coat frame
spray oil tank
polish and laquer swing arm
fit taller bars
fit new plastic and decals

Here is how it panned out today.























As you can see there is a fair bit of scouring which has led to wear , though the piston is good
as is the barrel so maybe just a new set of rings and a hone out will suffice.









I have considered reaming out the little end and pressing in an oilite bush but i think the is too much
wear at the top end of the crank.

You need to knock up a frame to hold your engines steady on the bench Tommy, you can buy them from Kedo but its not hard to weld one up.

I moved your post in to the rebuild/resto section as well, just keeps things neat & tidy in the right box.

I had two sets of wheels, swapt out the lame/tame suspension for the Öhlhins parts from your model. Front and rear.

My mate had the RE version and i didnt like it, kinda took away the rawness of the bike , thats one of the reasons i have kept mine
just love it for off roading. I have gone down the road of replacing the con rod, bearing , crank pin and piston pin with the genuine article,
as i was confident that i could get the correct clearance with the engine half together, and if it failed then there could be a bigger expense.
I have started stripping the bottom end down and will update when i have a few more pics of something interesting.

Will it make much difference and is it a straight swap, i have 2 TT600 59x , 1 part restored 2 year ago
and one i restored about 6 year ago so i have a spare set i can use for a while.

Heres one of my TT600's



and here is the other before it was stripped and just sits there now 1/2 restored.



and while im at it heres my 43f and a 2KF my lad uses on the dirt track.





I also have a 2010 XT660R for general use.

Interested in the carb performance upgrade though.

It´s like the guy from the channelisland here in the forum. (Can´t remember his name right now)
And about your restaurated TT:
I read some more about the carburatorthing.
In the german TT forum ( http://www.tt600r.de/ ) they say it will ad more grunt to the modern engines
due to having a smaller diameter of free flow. Not more hp.
And they say: "Don´t worry to much about it and drive!"
