Power.

Post by donnybach »

:nordie: thought I’d start a thread for some horsepower results that we’ve had, maybe add our set up with it? I know the 47hp claimed by yammy in the 80s was bollox, but it would be nice to know where we’re at generally now.
I had mine on a dyno a few years ago as she was running weird, and she (1vj) had 35 at the wheel ( or whatever crap they spiel at the dyno centres). This was before I sorted my fuelling and choke problems and later changed the stator. At the mo, I’m not happy with the fuelling, feels a bit weak at full throttle, so once I have re set the carbs to standard again and I’m happy with the feel I do it again to see what the mixture is like.

Yeah, not after dragstrip power, but thought it could shed light on the best set ups. Settings v experience/ride quality.
But now you mention Americans, I might price up a 100 shot nitrous kit. 😉 I wonder how my 5th gear could handle it?😁

A wiseco 11.5:1 high comp piston burning 100 octane gas was the fastest i ever got these old dogs to run. 145 main jet. Probably increased the power up to a whopping 40 hp. Eventually i took that out and put back in an OEM stock compression piston because i too was afraid of blowing it up, but that wiseco piston ran fast.

I think I’d need a gumshield and something to stop the eyes vibrating. I’ll stick with standard. I think it feels worse than it is because I’m jumping straight off the T700 onto it. I had it sweet at one point. Should have left her alone. 🙄
I like to cruise at 60-70mph on the motorway. Any more is a ball ache. She’s most fun on back roads at 40-50. Just need to get the “overtaking” punch back.
