New member question - non starter

Post by boduzafa »

Hi guys and gals - I hope vvv soon to be a new owner of a Ten 660 - need a new knee and everything else is too uncomforatble but the ten is great - just got a quick question - seen a 1993 bike and it looks good but the owmer cant start it said its flooded - it turns over and has new battery - been standing for 6 months and i am assured (and believe him) that it started and ran perfectly - nice bike and i would love one but if its a non starter am i looking at potential serious trouble or a new spark plug or carb clean ?? Thanks in advance and hope to be a regualar soon

Can’t imagine a 660 having too big a problem yet. Like you said, a good clean/service first, drain (inc carb bowl) and refill with fresh 99 fuel. Check for spark. Battery fully charged. All connectors clean.
Make sure it hasn’t got any problems with any cut off switches, and engine and clutch are free.
If nothing fires, then you can look deeper.
I’m sure if you get it, it will be sorted with help. Andy here is an encyclopaedia on leccy.
Carbs are piss easy. Just keep them clean and standard. Unless you live in the Himalayas.
