TL;DR - complete Tenere jigsaw for sale.

Post by Patrick »

Regretfully I am considering selling on my 3AJ Tenere project.
I bought this bike complete but in average condition. After getting it ridable I took it for its maiden voyage only to collect a roo (kangaroo, I'm Australian, roo's are c*!ts) at speed and turned the bike from a restoration into a restoration project.

I loved the bike from the moment I laid eyes on it and have hung on to it for years since but due to family, work and other motorcycle commitments it has been stagnant and I have reached the point where I would rather see it go to someone with the time for it than keep it, in pieces, in my garage.
I am not looking to make back what I paid for the bike, but I do know that to the right buyer this jigsaw puzzle is worth a reasonable amount.

The original thread for my bike is here and I can supply original and current pictures to interested buyers (the original photo hosting site is no more)

What you get:
- Essentially, a whole 1988 Tenere with matching engine and frame numbers.
- Fuel tank has been cleaned, relined and repainted but has a weep at a fairing mount (repaired after the crash but not well enough it seems) that will need to be repaired which will essentially mean the whole tank needs to be painted again, sorry.
- Original bikini fairing, which was damaged in the crash and then repaired and painted by a local company that specialises in cosmetic motorcycle repairs.
- 99% of original bike parts - the only thing it was missing when I bought it was the choke cable (which I still have not sourced).
- A brand new bearing kit - all engine and frame/suspension bearings.
- A brand new gasket kit - all engine and frame/suspension gaskets.
- Original workshop manual (proper workshop, not user service manual).
- Unsure if the rims are original but they are "fairly" true and have near new tires.
- Carby was rebuilt by the previous owner prior to sale but I cannot prove this (not using this to increase my expected price, just potential useful info).
- Brakes were rebuilt by the previous owner prior to sale but cannot prove this (not using this to increase my expected price, just potential useful info).
- Lastly, a box of other new parts I have bought along the way as well as additional bits and pieces that came with the bike like rear pegs etc.

I am happy to assist with shipping throughout Australia or even to other countries for the right buyer.

This bike, no doubt, has an amazing adventure history and as much as I love it - it deserves to be with someone that has the resources to give it the love it deserves.

*EDIT - I am happy to share the odometer with any interested buyers. The reason I have not listed its current odometer is that due to its (unverified) history I cannot be certain how accurate the odometer reading is. It might have been around the clock more than once.
If it doesn't involve scotch, bikes or progressive metal then you're doing something wrong.
