Quick question : lifting shock?

Hi,


I ordered a Wilbers rear shock, and now they ask if i want standard height or lifted.
Actually i like it higher. But is it possible? Without modifications?

They ask me how many mm i want it lifted..
I have to answer quick so someone who knows?

Edit : You can choose stock (+25mm) and +40mm ( i don't know what they mean by stock ( +25 ) as you can't choose just 'stock'

I'm riding 50% road, 50% offroad.
In the summer i travel with luggage, troughout the rest of the year i mostly ride without luggage.
Style is pretty sportive..

Mostly no passengers, maybe once in 3 years

I would imagine it will mean 25mm or 40mm higher than with a standard shock, usually they would just ask for the weight and riding style.

This is largely personal preference. A matter of how long your legs are. I did ride a Bilstein Mono in my XT600Z for a long time, which meant only tiptoeing, even with luggage on the bike. Had to extend my side stand quite a bit. And the bike gets a bit more nervous if you do not do something to compensate for that at the front end.

So if you want the bike to be just a bit higher in the rear, I would recommend to go for the +25 mm Option. You can make up for that by putting spacers inside the front fork.

Also i've ordered the progressive springs from Wilbers for the front,
do you think i will need some spacers? Where can you get them?

Personally I think you have it about right - I will assemble as bought and tinker with rear shock settings to it feels right

I would try with the new fork springs first.
A spacer can be made from steel tubing or Aluminium stock or tech plastic like POM or Polyamide. It is handy to know folks with a lathe.
Basically you just preload the spring like you can do with the rear shock via a thread. The spacer has to fit inside the fork and has to hold the spring down.
