Hi All
What are the differences between the 86-89 xt600 Carbs (1VJ or 3AJ) vs 1990-92 XT600 E/K?
The reason why I ask is I want to just use a generic carb rebuild kit, but there are non available for the 1VJ. But there are for 1990-92 XT600 E/K.

The guy who will be helping me tune the bike after the rebuild recommends Keyster. I know some people don't like them and swear by original Yamaha parts, but after another 300$ order with another 2x $300 orders to go, spending 200 odd Euro (on CMNSL) in parts to rebuild the carbs seems less than ideal!!

Re: Carb differences
The newer carbs have a different secondary slide and diaphragm mostly . The primary carb is the same just jetted a little different for emissions or whatever(at least here in the US) The rebuild kit will mostly work but there won't be anything for the secondary that'll work . I've never really used a "kit" I just ordered bowl gasket , jets, a few O-rings , mixture screw set, ect... individually as it needed . Not a whole lot in these carbs that get replaced with kits unless they also have the throttle shaft seals , new diaphragm , needles, ect...
