Hi folks,
as I´m now a lucky 34L owner I have to overcome some of the bullshite that the previous owners did to the bike.
One thing was driving around with a loose sprocket. All studs are worne out. :puke:
Easiest way to solve that problem: Get a new (used) one from Ebay.
As I´m searching for "yamaha sprocketcarrier and 34L" I find sprocketcarrier from a Yamaha XV 250 (It´s a chopper baby)
That part looked unbelievable like the part I was looking for. As it was very cheap I ordered it.
It is the same part ! :bigeek:

I did some cross checking over at boats.net and i found the part you have purchased 5Y1-25366-10-00 (CLUTCH HUB) US$49.00

I then crossed checked that with a 1984 XT600 and found this part number 5Y1-25366-00-98 (CLUTCH HUB) US$115 :eekers:

I did some measurements... and found the parts equal fuck they are the same ääähh have the same dimensions.
There are two differences: the XV one is silver and there is a "2" insead of "1" in the casting. But that´s it.
Swap the bushings in the bearing and you a Tenere sprocketcarrier.

The PO on my bike shortend the studs and "splitted" the nuts in half. WTF? I have no Idea. Maybe he wanted to put the wheel into a TT 600? smile: I think the slimeline nuts are the reason why the nuts had gone loose.

I payed 12 Euros for the XV 250 part and 24 Euros for the Tenere part. same ratio as on the new parts at boats.

On the first picture: there are the letters/numbers "5Y100" and about 2 cm behind that is a "1" in the metal.
On the silver carrier (XV 250) there also the letters "5Y100" and about 2 cm behind that is a "2" in the metal.

I remember years ago spotting that a tail light lense off a Belgarda 600 was the same as the one off a
Ducati Monster, the headlight was the same as a Husky one.
If you bought it as a Yamaha part it cost double.
Makes me wonder how many other parts we are paying too much for.

Sometimes its worth doing a bit of investigating.:sherlock:
