The Great Fork Boot Debate

Post by Mezo »

Lots of talk about the perfect boots for your forks.

I finally got round to e-mailing "rpmagiccat" the ebay seller where Geoff & myself got our boots from,
i sent him some pics of how they fell apart without even turning a wheel.
I know Geoff is worried his boots may end up the same way as mine (fingers crossed they wont).

Id love to recommend these boots to everyone as they are real nice fitting & looking boots,
as you would expect as they are the most expensive ones out there,
but if they are the best & your doing an expensive ground up resto why not have the best.

Ive seen them Daystar ones & they are priced reasonably but the mould this chap in the US has is perfect,
and his color is bang on also, and the feel of them is amazing, not that PVC plasticky feel (although that's easy to clean) these boots are made for the job.

He does do other colors, i had asked if he did a close match for the Sonauto blue & he said yes.

So lets see if he comes back with a "sorry mezo you got a duff batch ill send you some more" or whether he says tough crap buddy that was last year. :rtfi:

Either way ill be reporting back rest assured, and he`s a decent bloke he will do the right thing (don't you just love open forums)

Well he hasn't replied to me about my missing ones yet.....

As Mezo says the gaiters are superb, really good stuff.... they fit & look great...

And of course he's a good bloke who's gonna replace Mezo's and mine..... I've actually told him that I need another blue set for Tenere 3
The future is not what it used to be....

This one in the UK sells what he calls "Extra Long" in all the colors for £17.95 (define long? looks like the longest is 350mm by Polisport)

OK, ive reading the VMX forums, as them lads have the same problems getting boots that look period correct (Yamaha IT`s & Suzuki PE`s) especially.

One guy on there said CEMOTO brand boots again from Italy are good & close matches to factory in various lengths & colors.

http://www.cemoto.it/prodotti.php?act=3&id=23

So the ones that would fit all XT`s (i checked my 34L & 3AJ) 40mm/60mm & 350mm long, come in these colors from CEMOTO.

241901 Image White
241902 Image Black
241903 Image Red (says Honda XR)
241905 Image Blue
241908 Image Yellow

They do Green & fuchsia as well and are all €15.50

They sell them here in Brisbane (lucky me) but there's no price on the site

Also UFO make some very similar to the ones Geoff & i had, and there only ten quid.

And the red looks pretty good as well.

Pyramid Fork Gaitor Experience...?!

Post by Aussiesven »

Just received a set of red fork boots in the mail via e-bay from Pyramid parts... (after I ordered them I started reading your comments on thier parts... should have done that beforehand)...

So now I am the proud owner of a set of gaitors that are too short and thus don't fit properly onto the fork leg (need to be 80mm or so longer.

I read some of the posts here and will try the ones from ProAccessories... at least they are in Brisbane and I can eyeball them before I buy them.

Anyway, just thought I post this comment here, just in acse someone else is tempted by the "fits Tenere" comment, they don't!

Happy hunting.

If ya read the fine print on Boatnet they sell every part individually, so even if it says quantity 2 (most assume you get 2 for the price) ya only get 1! Stupid really as every other parts website works the opposite.
