Hi, me again.
In nearly taking my head off trying to heath robinson compress my shock spring I noticed the rear boot is broken and in a search have found the part is obsolete. More annoying I recon when I find it it'll be £££. Still, enjoying the searching and build, even the spending.
I think we need a list of obsolete parts or is it earier to say whats available.
Anyone know where theres an alternative or DIY job?
Spring still on shock, borrowing tool tomorrow.
Andy

Re: Shock boot needed? Another obsolete part
Should be able to take it off without spring compressors, tyre lever in about the right place, little lever down and pop clip out of groove then collets should just pop out..I sometimes resort to a crash helmet on with spring clamps if its all starting to look a bit iffy..renault 25s now that was a dangerous spring...vanandy wrote:Hi, me again.

Re: Shock boot needed? Another obsolete part
Just dawned on me that we have a 3TB sitting not three feet away from where im typing
Danny`s ex-army 600E (3TB) has a boot rubber so i took & picture & measured it against my 34L one & almost certain it will fit.

The only thing im unable to do is see if the rubber sits on the lip, the 34L came with a plastic lip riveted to the arm & all the ones after (steel arms) have the lip welded to the arm, obviously i can't try Danny`s as its on the bike but from rough measuring his & my single half ripped one its dam near identical (95mm x 95mm) from them four tabs you see.
I need three of theses boots myself, the originals were $50.00 (i bought one for my 3AJ project from Boats) so if they do fit & im almost certain that it will its half the price of the now obsolete 34L rubber.
Im going to sticky this thread.
