Oil pump gears

Can anyone recall what oil pump drive gear they have used with a 3aj oil pump in a 34 l,the original gear just almost touches clutch basket and the 3aj gear clears but doesn't contact on the full width of the teeth?...anyone had this scenario?

That's interesting Marcm, I guessed, like you this is the recommended route to take with the pump. Can we see some photographs with yours fitted? Hopefully someone will come with a lot more information than me.

That`s the first time ive seen a 34L oil pump gear, its white?

Im going to have the same problem, i think (pause) you need the 3AJ plastic gear which is more a brown colour.



Im trying to remember who has done the mod?

The white gear is the 3aj one,my 34l and the spare tt motor I have both have the brownish gear,these just foul slightly on the clutch basket.
The white gear clears.
Took the 3aj pump apart to have glance at it,and its obviously eaten some gearbox at some point as there's some small diverts out of tips rotors.....then I had look at my existing pump that's taken me all over the bloody place and its as bad...eek..

I see your clutch basket is not fixed in yet, can we see the teeth contact? Or/also , better still veneer caliper time maybe (yours is bigger than mine kind of ting ). Does the collar of the plastic gear sit as it should?
I recall the the one on my 55w was white also. I'm afraid the 3aj doesn't live with me , so I'm unable to check for you.

Yes,waiting for a new locking tab in post,amazing how just changing the clutch cover for one that's not got snot in it repairing a hole,turns into changing oil pump,putting another kickstart idler gear in and using the kickstart mechanism and kickstart from the tt as mines always had the wrong kickstart on it..
Quite bizarre realy that one of the oldest bikes I've got has taken me further distances than any of the new ones did?..

Guys,all weehls are white when new.I got a 3AJ oil pump for my 55W.The pump was new the weehl used.And from oil burnings is looking cafe au lait color.
I think you can put the weehl up side down?.
