1vj magneto cover wanted...

hello. dropped my bike the other day in the snow and smashed the left hand engine cover as you sit on the bike. anybody got a spare they could sell me? cheers, karl.

Ahh, so the left side (magneto) is also magnesium, ive never spotted that? only ever seen it written on the right cover (clutch).
Well in that case be real careful then, read up on welding magnesium its totally different from welding aluminium & if you ask a alloy welder to weld it up he will fuck it up & then you will need a new cover anyhow.

A guy on the HUBB just found this out recently (same deal) cracked his magnesium cover & got a guy to weld it with alloy & screwed the job up & he had to go buy a new clutch cover.

I think depending on how much magnesium content is in it,it may or may not be successful.
I had a magnesium brake backplate welded and it came out ok,another item,think it was yz 465 clutch cover,the guy does some stuff for me looked at it and said no go..
