Not having seen one, I assume the pumps are needed because of the low tanks and to assist gravity in feeding the carbs? I can understand a Fuel Injected bike will certainly need a pump but did not know any carb bikes used them....

They also used the same pump on Honda`s Africa Twin, i was working on a Polaris quad & was checking the fuel system & found an identical pump, its a very common pump.
Getting back to Eric`s bike,,,the part number is 1VJ-13910-01 (same pump used on the 1VJ & 3AJ) and is also used on the 3LD (XTZ 750 Super Tenere) and they are still
for sale in Brazil AU$240 
But i was right when i said it was a Taiyo Giken (written on the side) i can only think they possibly used two makes of pumps? remembering there was a MK1 & MK2 3AJ.

Wow, even with the exchange rate the price difference is huge. I found the part in the brazilian equivalent to eBay (
www.mercadolivre.com.br ) but the price was the same BRL 480,00

Picked up the frame and other bits from the powder coater,French Blue is a very good match.
Also got them to sand blast the exhaust. Went around to the zinc guy and he had a big bag ready for me.
Looking forward to this rebuild

Guys, about the fuel pump, one guy at the Brazilian forum of the XT 600 made a tutorial of the replacement of the internal parts (available on ebay).
