You have my sympathies mate.... I know exactly what you are feeling, if you've read my Tenere 2 thread you'll know that someone (still unknown) knocked one of my cases off a bin after I'd just painted it... I had mine welded.... but, it leaked oil & it's still leaking oil... after numerous attempts at repairing it... I've managed to find another case now & I'm gonna have to remove & strip the engine again... the engineer who originally welded the case is gonna pair the two cases for me free of charge... but it's a lot of work I could have avoided... my advice would be to find another pair of cases & start again... you're gonna have to strip it anyway....

p.s. 3TB cases are the same.....

The RH case (the one with the damage) may be the same but the later 3TB flywheel, stator and one way clutch are smaller, thus the LH casing is quite different. :sherlock:

I dragged out an old casing (damaged in a different area) to check out out your problem.

The post you knocked off serves to hold the detent roller and spring. In normal use there is not a lot of force on the part.

The post is threaded right through and it would be a simple matter to make a special nut so that you could put a long 6mm bolt to secure the post. I would not even bother welding, maybe just superglue.

Yeah.... I've just checked out a casing here & I agree, it's not as bad as you think .... you'll still have to strip it again to do a proper job.... glue the post on & fix it from inside... unless you can find a cheap set of cases quickly....

Hows your repair or replacement going jibber?

I await, your progress,(partly) as I am not far off fitting a kick start to my 3 AJ and wondered how you are getting on.

Yer, was welded, but being 25 year old cast that's been in oil all that time it was a pig ( for Sammy ) hence not pretty.
