Rick is right Eric, its the ONLY way of getting the piston out safely, I've tried evrything in the past.... I would wait till you've got a cylinder to pump it out with.... or use a mate's...

Inspired by Tenere Mikes detailed explanation for dismantling forks I decided to see what lived inside mine. As you can see the bushes have some wear but basically nothing to bad.




Checked prices through boatnets powersport section under Suzuki upper bush 51152-48B31 $9.60 each, lower 51153-48B31 $11.13, oil seal 51153-08D00 $12.08, dust seal 51173-15D00 $12.17, so for around $90 I will replace everything!

Decided to pull the perfectly good cover off my seat and see how the new one looks, straight away I new there would be problems! This is the old one un-stapled sitting on the seat, a REALLY GOOD FIT.

This is the new on, looks like a potato sack!

Both covers side by side, as you can see the new one is way too wide at the front and does not follow the shape of the seat.

This picture shows the pattern line in blue of the old cover, no where near what the new one should look like! I have only seen Just Dans efforts with recovering and it looks like he has the same issue, has anyone used these covers and successfully fitted them without the loose look at the front of the seat?

Well from reading a post from Mr Lambeth on the HUBB, he reckons the foam is shagged in most guys seats & was working on foam replacement.

The biggest problem is the gap by the front between the seat, especially when your sitting on it.

Dave said in his post, the foam looses its strength causing the bend & im guessing your foam has lost some of its shape Eric?

mine didnt look great when i put it on,i have resorted to spray contact adhesive before in an effort to not have wringles on top.
anyway couldnt find any when i was doing tenere seat so i just sat on it for 4000 miles and its looking ok now..if bikes not going anywhere just stick a 70 kg dummy on it for few weeks...

It's not the shape of the foam but the pattern of the red cover. If you look at an original seat the red follows the edge from horizontal to vertical along the seat. These covers come way down the sides. Look again at this.

The seam should follow the edge of the seat horizontal- vertical. As does my old cover which fits perfectly. The blue line should be the pattern of the red fabric.
