Fuck i wish i was there at your place with them two in my hand, so to knock of the plastic part would mean taking away some steel as well?

When you look at you downward pic it looks as simple as shaving some plastic back, or should i say "facing off"
I am a pretty good turner/miller by the way (trained by my old man) who was a toolmaker & i was knocking shit up from age 12.

Been for a quick ride to retrieve my van yesterday on tenere...and all seems good,of course it doesn't feel any different, but in its head I'm thinking tenere must be happy a its got a clutch cover without resin in it, a kickstart that clears frame and clutch cover,an unworn out kickstart idler gear and 3aj oil pump....hopefully it will nice to me for a bit...on the boat tomorrow to hopefully warmer climate than here..

Hey Marcm, that's not fair, you have not told us how you overcame the problem!!!

Did you know the secret to a happy marriage?

.....Neither do I, apparently it is still a secret!!

(Just like Marcm's oil pump swap/fix)
"Don't worry," he said, "things could be worse ........."
So I stopped worrying and lo and behold, things did get worse!

For better or for worse.......ha ha...the 3aj sprocket is in it now, clears clutch basket ok..
Bikes coming down to Spain with me in van with the gas gas, going to motorland aragon for few days, off up to my friends in catalunya then will quite likely have a bit of a jolly around Spain on it again..having to watch the penny's this time as I'm no longer a pikey with my house rented out...I'm back in the land of bills and stinking council tax..
Will try and get my mate to get some pictures of tenere on the supermoto track....going slowly..ish..

Sorry to drag up an old post, but did anyone get over the 3AJ oil pump and plastic gear alignment problem?
As an recap; Marcm fitted the 3AJ pump and gear drive but it is slightly out of line, he's had no problems but it would be great if a perfect, inline, solution was available. Especially as I'm in the position of doing mine very soon.

 prehaps then the issue was with marcm's engine?
Got to get one anyway, was just wondering if a different cog was a solution.
3AJ pump and cog it is.

Actually all 34L,55W,1VJ engines are the same in that area.Even the 3AJ.
I remember buying my 3AJ pump, taking the old 5Y1 out and voila! no problem.Maybe your plastic weehl is not 3AJ?
