Having a issue with the swingarm clearances. When I do the swingarm bolt up to the required setting the swingarm is slightly stiff to move, surely it should be free but with no side movement (should it be able to fall under it's own weight, mine won't). Where do you place the shims to give it more movement? The manual gives measurements but is not clear to me anyway any help appreciated.

If you can move the arm with less than 3kg force, then i would say the job is done. Don't worry about shims.

I have also just read the manual and it is not clear where to place the adjustment shim, but the clearance is created by the length of the inner tube sleeve.
If you decide the arm is too tight, then the effective length of the sleeve needs to be increased.

The book says it should have no more than 1mm side play (holding the end of the arm) so yes it should fall or move easier than that.

Remember you have coated frame and swingarm.Both are thicker coated as with normal paint method applied 30 years ago.
Use sand paper to take some coating on the inner part of the frame where the swing arm will fit.
I thing on the spare part PDF you can see where those spacers go.I took that info from there.

Thanks guys, I know I have to increase the inner sleeve length but the shims internal dia is bigger then the sleeve so this won't do it. I have found the left side engine case where the swing arm bolt goes through is slightly worn ( sleeve has worn into it a bit) so I will shim there with a internal diameter smaller so the sleeve pushes against it.
