South African rebuild of a XTZ 750

I filled the tank with about 10ltrs of fuel, and gave the button a push only to find that i had forgotten to charge the battery. So a quick charge and 3o mins later i gave it another go and she fired up straight away still have to balance the carbs and set the CO mix though. I dont have a carb balancer outfit so will take her into the dealers. THen i need to put the side panel decals on and spray a coat or two of clear, and find three or four of the bolts that hold the front panels on. I will be taking it on a test ride later today to check for any leaks..... I am a tad nervous i have to admit!!! would hate to have to drop the motor again!!

Charlie, She looks great. You have inspred me to give my S10 a birthday.
Also a question... are the rubber washers behind the screws that hold the faring to the tank standard yam?? Mine has nothing and I have cobbled some plastic tube to try and cushion the fixing.

Thanks chaps, it is amazing to finally be riding again after all this time. I hadn't realized how much I have missed it until I went on my first long ride on Sunday
One thing I had not counted on was that after the rebuild was complete and the old horse was on the road again, I would be left feeling somewhat lost and not knowing what to do with myself!! Post rebuild blues i guess



So now i am on the hunt for a new project, I think an old 3AJ to have the sexy blue make over And after all the work that went into my 750, the wife now wants her own bike to ride so that we can ride together.....We have been thinking of riding together to Mozambique next year. Should be interesting!!
