I've been finessing and putting some miles miles on this bike, off road of course.
I'm really pleased to say that the new carb is really impressive and pulls really hard right off the bottom. You have to be careful not to over rev.

when you say make a new loom, will that be a copy of the original main loom with the original connectors, or aftermarket connectors, or can you still get new OEM connectors from Yamaha?

What tool did you use to remove the old bearings and bushings? I am closer to getting mine ready for powdercoat, but I haven't bought any bearing removal tools so far.

Here I have a very handy tool to seat the needle bearings without undue force.

They're not the best welds on these 80's bikes are they?

To remove the bearings,I can't remember the exact sizes, but I used the same method as the above with a 20mm socket to push them out, into a 30mm socket on the outside (roughly, it could have been an 18mm). Or you can just use a punch and an hammer, at least you can for the plastic bushes.

I have been searching online for a good quality bearing puller set. Turns out a good Kukko set is 840 euro... I guess I am also going to use some sockets or I'll make some adapters myself.

I'd like to make a modernised version, losing the bits that aren't needed like the side stand, and over complicated twin relay system, and using modern AMP type connectors.

You can just drift them out. Be gentle with the bush if you want to reuse it. Although you should budget for replacement.
Or use a cheap socket and extension on the bushes and bearings.

Now she's outside the fork gaiters look awful. I've got a couple of sets of new ones. Whichever matches the paintwork best needs to get fitted
