I have a XT tenere 600 1984 it is a import and I planned to restrict it after my test to a 33bhp. I cannot restrict it officially because it is not a british bike but I can change the frame to a British frame then it would be classed as a british bike.

I need to know if the XT tenere's parts will fit onto a XT frame and what years are compatiable.
also the engine I will be using is 1984 and the restriction kit offers from 1985 is there a difference in the engines and would it affect it to have a restriction kit in.

Has anyone restricted a XT tenere before?

To my knoledge restrictions are done only to the airflow of the carburator!Why to change the frame?

The fuel tank, frame and seat are all different. These things alone are a show stopper and there are a host of other tiny differences that will try your patience.
Please explain in more detail why you are obliged to do this.

I need to change the frame due to it not being a British bike and the 33bhp restrictor asks for a british frame number. As the Frame is what is restricted not the engine :(

The restriction kit you talk about, is this for the engine?

And what is the difference in frames? do you need an English frame?

The British restriction works by restricting a british frame so the restriction has to be on a british frame and mine sadly isn't. This would be for when I pass my test and it's not looking like I can restrict it. Due to years and not being a British frame so I think I might sell it. I think the restriction is in the carbs, but I need to have a restrictor with certifiate to prove it's restricted

If you restricted your bike in any way (stuffing a cat in the airbox) and then have your bike do a dyno test & printed certificate,
would that not be acceptable?

I was told they charge rather alot for the testing, I think £7000 for a company to test your bike. I could be wrong but it's still going to be a unnesscesery cost. :(
