I hope all is well.
I have a 3aj with an interesting, but poor quality paint job, they have painted the side panels too and after 30 years, is cracked and scratched and looks a bit tatty. I have heard of people sanding down the plastics and using finer and finer grit, then polishing to get back to the the original finish, but have heard mixed reviews on the results.
Does anyone on here have any experience in doing this and getting decent results?
I would like to have them back to blue plastic with original decals as they were intended, but dont want to waste 1000 hours sanding just for it to look rubbish and need painting anyway. Also a bit worried about getting them painted and the paint cracking over time and wearing away with boot marks as you can see in the pics (hopefully).
Again, anyone have experience of long term durability of paint on the sidepanels with them flexing and boot rubbing off road?

Also, if anyone knows a decent paint shop that can do a decent job in the correct faraway blue, I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Peen
