yep tell me about it
so done the compression test, front 165psi, rear 170psi
when turning the motor over on the starter there is air coming back out the inlet port
double checked the timing on both cylinders its possible the cam is out 1 tooth but it checks out with the other side so it looks like the head will have to come off
on a positive there may be just enough room to get the front head off without removing the engine if it was the rear it would have to come out

Gotta be a stuck valve then? timing couldn't have changed Danny, but then you said the compression test was good.

Dont rush in to pulling the head off. You will regret it.
It's a million to one shot that the cam chain has jumped a tooth since it was last running sweet.
Think about stuck valves, shit and carbon on the seat holding the valve open.
Double check any thing YOU HAVE TOUCHED in the past week.

Guaranteed, this will be a man made problem.

Well that`s what i thought but then he said he had done a compression test which would mean the valves are seated fine no?

I cant figure this out? it was working fine & then this? very strange?

It must be something you have removed since it ran, your plugs are not arse about backwards are they? or something with the carbies?

Manmade problems are the easiest to make and the hardest to find and fix.
Don't descend into the troubleshoot cravass convinced that your problem lies down there. The rope may break and you wont get out alive!!
Have a look around the topside and think about what your stinkie pinkies have touched.
I have diagnosed many a problem just by mentally rewinding the tape and rebuilding the trans/engine from the beginning.

thing is it was running, the motor doesn't make any noises no rattles smooth as, you could throttle it through a bit of a flat spot and it pulled strong, i didn't change or touch anything just parked it, came back 2 days later and it's running on 1 cylinder, dismantled the carby's twice, I've swapped everything around from the rear cylinder to the front cdi's, plugs, coils, and the rear cylinder fires no matter the set up, and both spark plugs in the front cylinder pumping out big fat blue sparks, but the air coming back out the inlet on the front cylinder like the compression is leaking out or a valve opening too early or possible sticking, this air does not come out the rear cylinder, what i need is one of those tiny little video camera's with a light on the end and have a look in there

so anyway I'm leaving it covered up till Monday arvo and I'll have a fresh look at it then

When ive gone out to troubleshoot an electrical fault i always quiz the owner/tennant and ask who`s been round here, what have you had done recent.
And nine times out of ten its something somebody has done (and not known) like my light has not worked since the day them blokes was up on my roof, really i say

Where was they working?

And bingo there bee thy problem, its all a bit of the old Sherlock work and you save hours of time trying to find the fault/problem.
