I have the rocker cover off and no sign of the cap. I was thinking that it might have fell into the cam journal oil well.

time to put it back together again..

I put the rocker back on and started working on that pesky leaky fork seal again. Pulled the fork leg out and dust seal off to see what is happening. There is a visible gap between the slider and the new fork seal for oil to come running out. Turn the fork upside down and the oil pours out.

Pulled the fork leg apart again and look through the best of the other seals I have. Found a good one and refitted that one. No more leaky fork seal.

All back together and time to try and see it the bike is easier to start. A couple of kicks in and the bike kicked back big time and for about 5 mins of swearing out loud. I thought I had broken my ankle again. The last time was on a kick start only DR650. I had my motor cycle boots on and I think that has saved me from a broken ankle. I do have badly sprained ankle and will take a while to heel.

I take that as a sign from Allah, god or any other goat that this bike and I not meant to be.

So the bike is on the market and will be sold. I would never have thought that this bike resto would have beat me.

Hope you get better soon & get a good price for the bike, there must be hundreds, if not thousands of people around the planet who want it. :pleasesir:

Hope it hasn't put you off teneres, any thoughts on an "electric foot" model?

No worries Dan you do what you feels right, nobody will knock you on this forum just because your selling a legend.

You have done a real nice resto from a bike that arrived in the back of you car in bits.

If by selling it you want get millionaire.......just put it a side or at a friends garage for a while.I know some mountain climbers can never reach the summit because of body issues.They don´t tolarate altitude and must go back! Have you reached yours?
If you sell that Teny what will you buy next? That Mk1 Guzzi???????

Hi Guys, and thanks for your positive comments. Just came back from the doctors this morning to make sure I have not broken and torn any thing. Basically it is a bad sprain and I have the week off work to rest up. The Tenere is going to a new home back to Andy Gadgets place. Keeping it in the family so to speak. Andy is going take it on and finish the bike off.

This has not put me off Tenere's. Every body might like early ones. I like the 99 model 660 with the twin headlight and rock hard seat or the super Ten more.

With Andy taking Tenere back. This frees me up to take on another project closer to home for me in building some thing I understand. A air head desert sled. Starting with just a frame and nothing else. Cause the Tenere was just too easy Andy reckons

The Tenere was the first time I had taken on such a disaster. The end result is ok and from what I have learnt the next one will be better.

Some thing like this. Now where can I lay my hands on a HPN frame?

At least the Tenere`s (like you said) staying in the family, Andy`s cunning way of getting you to show off your painting skills.

Now as you well know Dan the "Resto & Rebuild" section is open to any make or model so i would really like to see you post a build there as would many others id imagine, always fancied doing an airhead myself so carry on my good man.

Sorry to hear about the ankle - hope it recovers quickly.

Do you have any idea (say to the nearest thousand) what a rebuild like this is likely to cost?
