Hi all
I am currently in Peru with a leaky fork seal. I doubt I will be able to obtain a Yamaha replacement and wondered if anyone knows the dimensions of the fork seal and the dust seal for a 1990 3AJ Tenere.
With any luck there could be a suitable seal available for a different motorbike that will fit, or as a last resort perhaps from a hydraulic parts supplier.
Thanks for any help
Mark

Hi Geoff and Mezo
Thanks for the replies. Your link was very interesting Mezo.
I think I'm sorted now. I posted same question on HUBB/Yamaha Tech forum and got this reply:
Xt600e dj02: 41x53x8/9,5 ( i thin both 8, and 9,5mm fits)
Xt600 3tb: 41x53x10.5 (this can be cut down to use in a xt600e, i did)
Cheers and all the best
Mark

Re: 3AJ Tenere fork seal dimensions
UPDATE
--------
I couldn't get a fork seal that was 41 x 53 x 10.5. So, the seal shop ground down a 41 x 54 x 11 seal, but this leaked badly when fitted. I then noticed that the one that had been removed had 41 x 54 x 11 stamped on it. Not sure if this is an original Yamaha part, or something a previous owner had fitted. So we fitted an unmodifed seal (41 x 54 x 11) and this seems to be holding the oil (so far).
Cheers

Re: 3AJ Tenere fork seal dimensions
Hi Mark, glad you got sorted out with the seal... I eventually found an old seal I removed from my forks... I was ready to strip another fork leg to get the size....
.. anyway the one you used.. 41 x 54 x 11... is exactly the right one for a 3AJ... same size as mine..
I'm with Mezo... really jealous of your trip, wish I'd done it when I was a lad...
Give us a shout when your back in UK I'll buy you both a beer...
Ride safe mate...
