34L can be found cheap in the states under 49N or 43F......shipping would be the only issue $$$$$.But you can score mint samples there
Hello there.... man, time flies! My resto was 2011 to 13...
I didn't think that after 4 years my login would still work, but to my surprise it does! How is everyone?
I know my 34L resto goes back a long time, but ever since the bike has been a trusty companion again and been running well. I the last few months however it has developed a "cough" in one spot of the rev range. When I accelerate, around 2500 and 3500rpm the bike coughs/hesitates/misses only for a fraction of a second, then goes again and keeps reving up. The hesitation might be just once, but could also be twice or three times within maybe 4 or 5 seconds, but disappears again when the revs rise....
I pulled the carburettor apart, replaced the coil, but it is still there. It is annoying more than anything. My electrical skills are a tad limited but I would think that items like CDI, spark plug and alternator and the like either work or don't? Rather than cause this one-off intermittent "cough"? But I might be wrong...
Don't want to start replacing all sort of items as they are costly.
Any thoughts anyone? Do you guys think it is more related to fuel or electrics?
Good to see you are still in charge of the site and quick to answer....
Had another go today and pulled it to bits: changed to a new spark plug and NGK plug, just to be sure. Checked all the wiring again and found no fault.
Pulled the carbie out again and gave it another once over. Cleaned it all again, put a slightly larger jet into both carbies, adjusted the butterfly again and checked needle heights, idle screw and so forth.
Well, I be damned but it seems to have made a difference. Went for a 30klm ride and no coughing! Not sure what it now was exactly, but as long as it works, all good.
Will ride it more to check it out properly next week.
