Hello Tenere forum users.
I've long been reading posts on this site with great interest during my own 43F restoration, and you guys have provided me with lots of useful info and suggestions.
I've completed a full resto on my 43F, including refurbished gearbox with 3YF 5th Gears from the XT600E 4PT model, reconditioned stator (uprated? - remains to be seen), TT600 front end and fitment of the 34LTenere tank to my 43F frame (reversible of course). Sorry to those of you have have just hung your head in disappointment that I've not done a true original restoration, i wish i could have done, but I had to make the bike fit my needs for my upcoming trip to Mongolia.
Anyway, I'll get round to posting some info about my rebuild and am happy to answer any of your questions about the process, especially the gearbox and stator. Of course, I'm no expert as I've only ever done one XT600 build, but I've taken advice from quite a number of UK experts and enthusiasts, and carried out 90% of the work myself (I'm a helicopter technician by trade so have good training and understanding of mechanics and electronics).
The bike has been finished for 3 months, and has 1000 miles under its belt now and is running well, which is good as from 2nd July, its about to embark on a 13000 mile journey to Mongolia.
As part of the rebuild I sourced some 34L side panels which I have no use for. I ran out of time for cosmetic luxuries and have modified my commonly available 43F side panels.
I have one GENUINE, BRAND NEW, right hand side panel, and one genuine used, left hand side panel in good condition. I'll probably put them up on UK eBay before I go, so keep an eye out if you're interested or PM me here.
Again, thanks to you all for making such a great site,
Maybe see you on the road
Howard

We need pictures, sounds interesting, there was some one else that posted up a change of tanks, but I think that was 34L to 43F
