I'll get some pics up soon.... got to take the bike out & thoroughly test it before the TT..... :ride:

First up is rebuild the engine on Bruce's bike.... but before that I've got a bottom end here that I suspect second gear is spinning on the shaft (not been pressed on properly??).... but it's got a good crankshaft/conrod so I'll nick that for Ten 1....

Then I'm doing another 1VJ.... but I'm doing it standard, no fancy bits.... shock horror

Yes mate, it's the tank and plastics off Tenere 1, Bruce's green bike.... It will be staying on there too.... I'm gonna rebuild the engine on that one & fit the new tank & plastics to it.... If my decals ever turn up

So..... I had a problem with this bike, when I road tested it the bike was running fine when cold, but once it was warmed up it was bogging down, especially when you changed gear at speed or closed the throttle & re opened it.... extremely dangerous mid bend.... I had a feeling it was running rich, which was why it was running fine when it was cold... plug test told a different story though... :scratch: :scratch: .... anyway I had the carbs off twice (no easy feat).... checked & re checked float height, bought a new secondary diaphragm (at great expense).... fitted another new float needle.... stripped and cleaned the carbs in my ultrasonic tank twice.... changed the coil, plug ht lead.... removed side stand switch .... nothing, still the same.... I was stumped..... nearly 3 fucking weeks I've been scratching my head.

So on Wednesday I rolled out the trusty Triumph Tiger, started first time, passed M.O.T..... & taxed it... packed my panniers ready for Saturday... bollocks to the Tenere I'll take a proper bike...... :censored: :censored:

Then on Thursday morning at work having my coffee... It came to me.. :headslap: :headslap:

I jumped in the car, flew home to check...... yes it was the FUCKING FUEL CAP...... not venting into the tank....

Bikes... don't you just love 'em

TT by Tenere is back on..... :yay:

Moments of inspiration always seem to come when away from the problem.

Had a similar epiphany on sunday driving to work after 3 days trying to fit a gearbox to a car, don't use jacks to try to line up the clutch & gearbox, bar across the inner wings & use a tie down as a sling. The thing practically fell in to place :confetti:

The old adage of "Take a step back" comes to mind smile:
