Ok gentlemen.
I bought a new multimeter and did the 3 tests.
I'm getting a good kick out of the charge coil and the 2 trigger coils.
I have replaced the cracked ignition coil with a new one from wemoto but still nothing.
SPARK YOU BASTARD!
I have some daft questions too if you don't mind
1 What do I do next CDI?
2 Where do I get a CDI in UK?
3 Frame number starts with 55w- will any bashplate fit?
4 Does this model have an oil cooler I have 2 lugs on the frame above the front sprocket but nothing else
5 It says 34l on the seat base is this the same seat as a 55w?
Sorry if all this has been asked before,last week I didn't even know I wanted a Tenere,just fancied it on eBay and I would like to save it.

Hello fella welcome to the forum, I've got the 55w that I'm building up, and a few other xt's as well, loads of info on here, keep at it you will get there, I live in Sunderland if you were anywhere near you could come over to borrow a cdi, I've got three here,

If you have not done so already, unplug the black with white stripe wire from the CDI unit. This will remove any kill function from the ignition switch and handlebar kill. Also, if you have or if the bike had a side stand switch, trace wires up to find the bullet connectors from the main harness. Just plug the harness wires together to bypass the kick stand switch. This fakes out the CDI to see the side stand is up. If your bike never had a side stand switch then omit this step.

If the black/white stripe solves your problem, it could be your handle bar switch is shorting out. Plug in the black/white stripe wire then you can unplug the kill switch wire separately to see if that is the culprit... Both the ignition switch and the handlebar take the black/white strip wire to ground/earth to kill the spark. Last resort, un plug the ignition switch. If still no spark, must be the CDI.

Make sure all connection from the stator are clean and the CDI connections are clean.

I live in Glasgow so I'm 3 hours from you. If it's ok with you I could throw the bike in my van and try one of your cdi units on it.
I have the rest of the week off so without sounding like a stalker,could come down any time that suits you

Met bigiain from Scotland today nice fella, we finally nailed the problem today took us a little time with changing every single electrical part, solenoid, cdi, rectifier, and stud there scratching my head then changed the wiring harness, still no joy,
So that was it I said to bigIain lets take the engine cover off have a look see what's happening, the wiring from the stator pickup was distroyed, some one had been tapering with it before bigiain had bought it, I had a spare full casing with the stator and pickup put it on there you go we have spark, nice to meet you Iain love to see the 55w when fully done mate, and I will take you up on the offer of coming for a coffee when I pass on my tenere or camper,

Alloy bashplate from 34L and 55w will fit. By using the engine frontbracket from 2KF -model you can use the tubetype bashguard from the 2KF.
This helps top keep the engine cool. ( I think it even looks better)

Yes, it has. By running the bike without oilcooler, the previous owner has changed also the oillines.
He took probably the ones from the XT 600 43F. That´s what I did.

Yes, it is the same.
