Interesting......
I was nicking the rear caliper off one of my 3AJ's for Tenere 4 & I noticed the piston was slightly smaller than usual, 1 3/16 instead of 1 3/8 (Yamaha made these calipers in Japan, why the hell did they use imperial sizes
)
Anyway, after a couple of hours of research, I found out the caliper is off a YZ125 moto crosser.... so if anyone is stuck for a caliper, they can use a YZ one, albeit the piston is a bit smaller.....

One question, what is the original colour of the engine on the blue 88 models? Mine is a grey-silver colour

Hi Eric.... glad you've got the 3AJ bug, can't wait to follow your rebuild..... the 3AJ engines changed to silver grey casings with black barrels in 1989, about the same time as they changed to the long oil cooler... 
p.s. I've been trying to find someone who can powder coat some of my casings the silver grey colour, no luck so far
