tt600 36a/59x rebuild

I was just trying to verify that 6.7 and thought it was on Race tech website that had that but there is no longer an XT600 listed, only 350 and the TT600.

What did you say to them that had them yank it ? ,














My manual says 8.33kg/mm, quite the difference,

All i said was that i broke a spring i swear!,
It looks like the xt spring is significantly heavier, which i can only assume is because of the heavier nature, long distance, luggage and passenger's but has less travel and
i can see the coils are tightly wound, i wonder if it could work?
my shock has adjustable retainer on the body (multiple clip positions) i can adjust for length no probs, just need to watch for coil bind,

OH xtrider!! i see you have a tt600 shock there on page 3, could you try to fit the xt spring to the tt shock, and/or measure the id of the spring please please
my two shocks or retainers are 55mm or 2.16in and the other one is 60mm or 2.36in might end up with a franken shock yet..

Here's the three spring samples I have, the left is the standard US model XT 13mm wire diameter and 8 coils , middle is the TT600 11mm wire dia and 6 coils , right one is unknown but it came off and 85 XT 11mm wire dia with 7 coils .

The XT spring will fit on my TT shock but the way you mentioned in your pm your adjustment for preload is different than our TT shock so look to see if the spring still fits.




I have to put the TT setup pretty soon on one of my xts so I can know for sure that they soften up the ride. I feel they are harsh on road.


I also have a XT550 spring but it is longer and a few mm smaller id and od.

As you can see the bottom shock has multiple grooves for the retainer so length ain't no problem, within reason,
But i will take that 13mm wire one, that should carry my ass, you have a pm.

I ran into some info that may save you some time. Can you get springs fro a DRZ400? how about a RMZ450 or CRF450R? The rear springs for them fit. A stock DRZ is just a little stiffer than the TT so a spring made for a heavier rider on the DRZ should be good for what you need.

Can you do me a favor? would you be able to post some pics of how your sawingarm and lower linkage is mounted to the fram? That TT suspension I have doesn't seem to fit in my XT frame and would like to know what the difference is.

In the pic i put up i've got a standard drz spring on it, the black one, way too soft. then trying to get one here is difficult and expensive
hence why i want to buy yours a lot cheaper just not easy for you to send

regards to the swingarm, might have to wait till friday or sat, (thursday/friday for you) as it's dark when i get home,

Not many options down there huh? I'm kind of used to having almost any option just a phone call and c-card number away. The CRF and RMZ also are the same size, don't have the weight info on stock though. I'll give the revised address to UPS and get it sorted and sent out. I have an extra headlight, they are all rather dim, at least compared to my XL & klr so I'm working to use one from them. I'll throw it in the box.

From you pics of the frame, the mounts all look the same for the swingarm, but the linkage just doesn't line up and still allow full travel. Whenever you can get the pics ill be fine.

Also from the factory the tt had 280mm rear travel and 300mm front travel, i might try and gain some more height with the rear suspension,
if you look at the pic below you can see there's room for more travel will see if i can figure something out.

Ok what a busy two weeks, ok so i got another drz spring from ebay as the local mob can't get one for 3 weeks! useless fu#ks.
This spring is rated at 6.7kg, the way they rate them is by EG. it took 6.7kg to compress the spring 1 inch, it took 5.3kg to compress this spring 1 inch etc.
That's what i understand of it, so then i worked out through the web that 3 key factors to work out what weight spring you need, spring preload, approx 10 to 15mm,
then (static sag), bike off the ground then on the ground should be approximately 20mm (suspension sag), (then rider sag), approximately 100 to 115mm rider on bike,
If you get to much rider sag spring too light, if not enough too light, that's the gist of it from what i can gather, and the 3 key figures are approximates they can vary a bit.
Then the front springs but the same 3 key factors apply for the front. I will get this bike perfect yet. so i fitted the new spring and got on and it sagged 67mm!
I have never had a bike with good suspension, this is encouraging. will test ride soon.

Also xtrider has offered a xt spring and other goodies to play with which is much appreciated. (i like spares)

Now for pics also got goods on their way, i want this bike looking new.The new spring.

The only thing i don't like is that there's no way to tighten the ball in the lever clamp, hexed head would be good.
Lastly the fork boots i got in the first place are crap, so i found some really nice ones. soft rubber, have the holes at the bottom and the correct red!


Also i rode the bike with the new exhaust for a bit, yes noisey and all, seems snappy, put the old standard one on, oh crap not so snappy and whistley, but when the bike goes
for rego the standard stays after that swap it out.

Put some 222 loctite on the adaptors, as they tend to come loose. I also filed two flats on the alloy "adaptor" so i could tighten them up with a spanner.

Thanks for the reply, Is the 222 the soft loctite? hard to remember which one to use, how did you put flats on your mirrors? would like to be able to remove the ball in case
i break a lever housing.
