Tidying and upgrading the wiring and lighting on my Tenere, also fitting an additional fuse box and relay for accessories (Heated Grips / GPS / Phone Charge / Roadbook holder / Rally Trip meter etc)
What is the total capacity of the XT600 electrical system? I've found conflicting results searching google varying from 10amps which isnt enough to charge the battery with the existing headlights on to someone who has fitted 100w headlights with power to spare suggesting in excess of 15amps.
Many thanks

Re: XT600 stator capacity
Well by fitting a seperate fuse you at least save cooking the wiring loom
You could have your stator rewound to a higher output & remember to upgrade your reg/rec as well, also fit a higher amp AGM bettery.
Mezo.

Re: XT600 stator capacity
But how much power does the original stator output?
If i dont need to upgrade the originals i wont.

Re: XT600 stator capacity
Look in the "Maintenance Specifications" section of your manual, check the Hot Links part of the forum if you don't have one.
3AJ alternator puts out 12Amps at 5000rpm
Reg/rec has a 25Amp capacity.
3YF XTZ660 puts out 24.5Amps at 5000rpm
Reg/rec is the same model as the 3AJ & 25Amp.
As Mezo pointed out elsewhere on the forum, you also need to check the condition & thickness of the wires going to the load (bulbs, output socket etc.)

So can the XTZ660 stator and rotor be fitted to the XT600?xtzrick wrote:Look in the "Maintenance Specifications" section of your manual, check the Hot Links part of the forum if you don't have one.

Re: XT600 stator capacity
Probably, but the XT600 3AJ has a CDI ignition where 1 stator coil is used to generate the sparkZonda wrote:So can the XTZ660 stator and rotor be fitted to the XT600?
The XTZ uses a TCI where all the stator coils charge the battery & power from the battery is used to generate the spark
If the TCI ignition uses 12.5amps then the amount of amps available for lights, sat nav & cigar lighter is the same as the 3AJ
No idea what power the TCI uses or if there's any benefit changing
Zonda, your 600E could have TCI ignition anyway, check your manual & if it is TCI what's the stator output?

Re: XT600 stator capacity
The 660 stator can't be put in the 600, the flywheel is a bit smaller and so is the stator. Mounting holes are different as well.

Re: XT600 stator capacity
If I will find another stator which will fit into the mounting points, do you see any other issue why not use higher capacity of stator? How the capacity of stator influence the CDI?xtrider wrote:The 660 stator can't be put in the 600, the flywheel is a bit smaller and so is the stator. Mounting holes are different as well.
