As some of you predicted this is turning into an epic rebuild.
I had a proper look at fifth gear and the facings are pitted and damaged. So engine will be need to be stripped.

Is there a good supplier if 5th gears?

How come the bits are cheaper in the US?

Competition & buying power, things that lack elsewhere in the world.

You thing UK is expensive try Aussie, absolute ripoff on everything, i needed a needle roller bearing for my swingarm & was quoted $90 from two Yammy dealers & got one (same OEM part) from Boats for $10.

EDIT: Dont make the mistake we all make & go ordering just yet, you are more than likely going to need other parts, wait till you get a final list of parts before you make that order to save on postage, seals, gaskets, bearings etc etc.

And don't forget the import vat, fees and additional postage that parcel force will charge, but depending on what and how much your ordering it does still work out cheaper. It also varies on the mood of the customs person clearing your parcel, my last order only had an extra £29 worth of fees on an $1100 odd order, wish I had bought more.

It's ok. Luckily I have people that regularly travel to the US and they can bring back stuff.

Cases will not separate. It seems the crank has welded itself onto the bloody bearing.
Any tips?
I guess I'll need to remove the flywheel and remove it that way?

(I've searched but couldn't find anything.)

if you take the flywheel off, there are two 8mm threaded holes you can wind a couple of bolts through to 'push' the case off
