Mezo.
Yah these jets are probably only gonna be found used is my guess. I am in the process of contacting various XT used parts dealers as well as general motorcycle junkyards.
Why yes I did get temporarily banned from ADV recently for
"You have been banned for the following reason:
Keep it civil in the bike forums. Read the posted forum rules. Stop the name calling, and the mocking. No personal attacks in the bike forums." I am not gonna deny that I wrote some over the top posts directed at another member. I am a creative writer what can I say? When another ADV member known for posting garbage made some false accusations that I was calling people names & then flipped some other crap at me I let my creative writing skills flow. If I would have been a mod looking into the situation I would have banned both of us. Its easy to single my posts out for punishment though as they were over the top. If you go through my posts over there everything is in line except for the back & forth that I just described. That one member's contributions to the XT600 thread just piss me off for a variety of reasons & I let them know it. The ban was worth it.
Speaking of banned ADV members I recently read the entire XT600 thread on ADV. I noticed you used to be active over there until you got banned. It was unfortunate that you got banned. (I can't help but wonder why you were.) You were one of the more knowledgeable contributors to the XT600 thread in its early days. Its unfortunate that you are no longer contributing. The thread would have more value if you were able to add to it. The thread has fallen far from where it was in the beginning. The first 125 pages are pure gold. Then the next 175 pages are just, "meh. whatever." It comes back around somewhat as of late. I don't think it will ever reach the level it was in the early days.
When I got on ADV I was & still am not particularity fond of ADV as a forum. It was just easy to go there as it is large in its scope. ADV is big, its some got good stuff, but there is a bunch that is just junk. Junk forum posts enrage me when they are allowed to be the norm & ADV is full of them just like every other American forum these days. Unfortunately as the internet has gone from the wide open self governed wilderness to a quaint closed consumer experience too much junk is allowed to be posted without consequence. Now there is a whole generation of internet users that talk garbage all the time & people that speak up are the ones that get punished. This has bred a general idiocy into a majority of forums motorcycle or otherwise. I blame the MySpace & FaceBook generations with their political correctness with a fascist authoritarian mentality for this downfall. I know the rules on forums. I know that if I cause problems I will get the boot. But as someone who has been on the internet long enough to see its demise, frankly sometimes I would just as soon speak my mind & burn a bridge rather then put up with
I will probably go back to ADV now & again once the ban is lifted simply because my account is still there, then again maybe not. If I do & the offensive member or someone else starts something I wouldn't be surprised if I get banned again. I have a knack for verbally slapping people that deserve it & am not afraid to do so even if I am the great @sshole while doing it. I don't plan on being very active on forums too much longer right now anyway. The only time I am it seems is when I undertake new projects like currently with my XTs. I have gathered almost as much info as I need to own these bikes & all that is left is to find the jets I am after. Then I will be gone for a while as wrenching & riding is what I prefer to do rather then get in flame wars with wankers that deserve a good roast. I am still deciding on whether or not to write a thread on my XT projects somewhere. I probably will. Maybe ADV will be lucky enough to host it. With its large audience base a build thread there can reach a good amount of people that may be interested in such things.
I will do my best here on this forum, as I have on pretty much every other forum, to not cause trouble. Looks like around here the wanker quota is much less then what can be found on a typical American forum so there shouldn't be much cause for concern. I am looking forward to checking out some of the threads here. From my work on scooters I have found that I am much more fond of European forums for technical reading & writing. In general I am more fond of European forums for any subject as Europe seems to have all the knowledge & manners that America generally lacks. This helps keep my penchant for @sshole behavior in check & allows me to actually carry on conversations that are worth having.
So in answer to your question about being banned at ADV, yes I am temporarily banned because I have no qualms about

while giving

the

they deserve before I go off &

so I can come back &

while I

some more.
