Do you mean the part attached to the bottom yolk (triple tree,fork bracket) ?

I can measure mine on saturday, it kind of fits the 660 frame but could be from a 750.

yep. I cannot find bearings with outer size for xtz steering and inner size for White Power axle, so decided to make custom axle for WP bottom yolk from 640SM, but with diameters and length for xtz steering. if they inserted axle to yolk, there must be some way to separate them and assemble with another axle =)

I think you need a hydraulic press to push the stem out of the yolk, someone on here has done it before
Sometimes the stem is held with a grub screw or spring pin, so check your yolks before you press.



Stole the pic, from Eric I think. But it'll do for measurements

A = 10mm (my bike has only enough thread for 1 lock ring so is probably a 750 yolk, you might need to add 5 or 6mm if you want to use 2 lock rings)
B = 15mm
C = 175mm
D = 25mm
1 = M25x1.0mm thread
2 = 25mm diameter
3 = 29.5mm diameter
4 = 30mm diameter

The top & bottom of the shaft will be determined by your new yolks.

& make sure you get it made from the right grade steel,
no idea what that is but if you get it wrong, it'll hurt

we have soviet union's heritage at our neighborhood xD factory for tanks repairing. they have a lot of interesting stuff like machine for making gears, automatic welding, milling machines, etc. few years ago they've had possibility to make motorcycle frame from titanium.

I haven't heard of Tenere's being particularly prone to fuel leakages, but depending on age, it could be that fuel is leaking out of old hoses, especially from the tap. If the tank has been lifted off recently, it may be the hose hasn't been pushed on tightly enough to the tap at the back. Good idea with the paper on the floor though.

With regards to the manual, I don't believe there has ever been a Haynes or Clymer manual. I found the Yamaha dealership service manual relatively helpful (make sure it's a colour good quality version), and it can be bought on line from ebay for about £5. I do believe that they may even be a copy lurking around the forum somewhere. Also, I've recently purchased a new XT660Z, which does have a Haynes manual, and whilst there are major differences (such as fuel injection, 4 valves instead of 5 etc) it surprised me how similar to two beasts actually are in their makeup (well I suppose they are directly related).

btw, i've found that fuel tank on my bike has a leakage. tank surface beneath the paint got 'wet' with fuel and paint starts to fall off from tank at this place.

What width has front wheel hub and spacer on the right side of hub?
Already got cr500 usd fork, but still cannot disassemble motorcycle :( fucking laws in my country...
Btw, does anyone seen tapered roller bearing for steering stem 55x25? I found some russian bearing, but I'm not sure about quality...

The spacers could be different sizes because they use different forks.
