Has anyone heard of using the Raptor 700 EFI unit? I can get an entire setup with wiring and computer for about $250-$300, just where to begin :omg: I had one of those quads so I am familiar with the setup, but that was in an already running motor.
I do have a set of the Raptor carbs sitting here all ready to put in my XT, they fit perfect in the boots, but require some ducting for the airbox which is why they aren't installed yet. I'm doing it mostly to finally be able to tune my overly rich running bike with no way to lean it out(non adjustable mixture screw, no smaller jets available)

As for the 105hp Raptor, put it this way, from what I've seen on the west coast in the sand dunes(think turbo charged 680 Raptor or 770 dual sparkplugged-one on the side-alcohol burners, ect..) How long those motor live I don't know but they are 1 mile ahead before I get to top gear on my 525KTM.

How much of the fuel injection set up would you be able to use?
Doesn't the fuel injectored Raptor have a 4 valve head with a single port & single throttle body whereas the carb model uses the 5 valve, twin port & twin carb head

Been reading about the 700 raptors, forged piston & conrod & a 9000rpm redline as standard :omg:

Have you tried drilling/prizing out the plastic bung covering your mixture screw?

For the 700 injection I thought about the two into one manifold from the 660 Grizzly(people use them to go with a single carb on the XT. I didn't dig for fitament, just a thought. The timing with a cranksensor would be the hardest to get, since it's an open loop system it would be able to be rigged up, just would need a computer to reprogram the curves and keep the temp sensor in the airbox. I can't remember if that one had a fuel pump like my LTR.
For the mixture screw on mine model(one of the only years it says this) the manuals all state preset, non adjustable but in other years /model the say 1.5 turns out ect.. I haven't drilled out the brass plug to see if there is an actual screw down there, could be one, just weird why for only that year or so did they say preset and all others give a "turns out" number. For how rich it runs I don't know if the screw will fix it anyways. I put the smallest jets I could find plus the intake nozzle cap(that rubber vacume nozzle on the left boot) open to allow in as much air, it is still running way rich, black and sooty sparkplug. The only thing I can think of is that mixture setting moved or someone drilled it out .

This is the 660 Grizzly manifold
Image

As you can see, the right hand side of the 660 has a much bigger inlet than the 600, wonder how they make them fit

The preset carbs I've adjusted all had plastic bungs covering a normal mixture screw but they were mikuni & kiehein carbs, you could try drilling a few mil into your brass cover with a 1mm drill bit to see if it is just a bung or not.
Having said that, if you're still running rich with your premeditated air leak it does sound like something else is wrong.

Actually I misstated the Grizzly model, it is the manifold from the 600 not the 660. The 600 is the same basic motor and the first years of the Grizzly('98 ish to 2003 or so).
