XTZ 660 Tenere breaking

Post by Halgeir »

Good evening all,
I'm going to be in the process very soon to be breaking down my poor old green XTZ660 (3yf double head light model) ans I thought I'd give you all on the forum first dibs before I put the parts on ebay.
She's a 1995 model, and fully complete, with a few extras. Whilst looking a little tired (as you'd expect on an old bike) the best bits could be considered as the following:
- Petrol Tanks x 2 (green and blue) both are serviceable with no leaks, although the green one has a large graze beneath the fairing where I came off 10 years ago.
- Side pod fairings. 2 x left green and blue and 1 x right green. Both green fairings are in good serviceable order, with a a few minor scratches. The blue will need a little attention as it has a few cracks and marks.
- Nose cone fairing (green) and standard screen.
- Predator stainless steel exhaust system. Still in great condition
- Polished SS sand bars from motad (I think)
- Front & rear wheels. The rear was respoked with SS spokes by me, and the rim is in excellent condition. Rear tyre still has half tread. The front wheel is suffering with a little corrosion as are the spokes. Still fully serviceable though and lots of life left in the tyre.
- Carbs x 2. One fully serviced, cleaned etc and set up, as good as new, incl new diaphragm. The other is for the carb bodies only.
- Rear swing arm x 2, including all suspension linkages.
- Shock absorbers x 2. One complete and one emptied of gas.
- Wiring loom. Recently purchased and in really good nick. Only modification is wiring for spot lamps.
- Engine x 2. The head/piston on my old beast needs attention as shes done well over 90k. However, she does run, but will need love and attention spent on her to get her running right. The second engine is in parts and is incomplete (sprag clutch is missing).
- Forks. In great nick, just in need of a service.
- Seat. Recovered and in generrally good condition
- Frame and V5 doc. A little rusty in parts, but fully serviceable.
Plus all the other bits that would normally be attached.
Ive had the bike since 1998 and and have loved and looked after her all that time.
Until that is about 6 weeks ago when the engine started to give me problems. I've now purchased a new XT660Z and whilst I'd love to restore the old girl back to her former glory, I need the money to go towards the new bike.
I will probably start breaking her down next week (from the 21st June) So grab yourself a bargain, and please contact me if you would like to buy any parts, or if you have any questions.
Thank you for reading,

Halgeir

I'd be interested in some plastics in one piece, especially the side fairing bits & the headlamps
