Yami´s XT bastard

As promised, here it is, my "new" XT600. It is a project bike as you can see.
Just arrived home with it. So, for the moment I have 2 offroads.
It looks so bad but goes so well. I got a bit chocked when testing it.
You can feel the power so much more then on the 3YF.

Sorry for the other thread I made recently here which will not happen.

Think I found home now. Reading some here at the forum and got some
answers from you made me go in this direction and choose a XT instead.
I like the colours on this one a lot and hopefully I´ll succeed in making
something similar.





First I will do a mockup with new parts/used parts to get it complete
in the way I want. Pics will be posted from the start which is right now.

Second step is to strip it and restore the parts which can be saved
and get new where it doesn´t. In the end I hope to get a XT bastard
which looks well and suits me and my purposes.

It looks like a very original bike (except the obvious side panels) parts are easy to get hold of so it shouldn't be to hard to make a nice job, and yes black & red is a great colour scheme.

I think im right when i say the older XT`s made 50hp ? myself & Danny was sat around the campfire last night pondering what the difference was that made the extra power & we think it must come from the carburettor? Dave do you know?

I think you have a realy good thing going on there, ofcourse those side panels didn`t look to good, but they are easy to get from ex: UFO plastic or so. You should also replace those front fork boots because they look wrong.
But those wheels man, fuck they are mint

It is a 34L engine, it says it on the side of the cyl, how many hp have they?
However, it is a matching numbers bike with 49634 km on the clock.
Tripmeter stick is broken.

It has at least been opened up once, I can see silicone or stuff coming out
all over where cases split. Pics later.

Brage, Wmoncrieff, I like the golden rims a lot too. But at least the rear
is very abused on the sides. None has the cancer though. Keeper or what?
Probably with those dirt tires mounted, they rock going on the sandy roads.
Feels very secure giving it full throttle.

Have some ideas about plastics and tank. Pics later.

Your bike is basically the same as a 34L just without the big tank, we say 50HP but i think its technically 49HP?

The later the bike became less power, down to 42 or 43HP or something like that.

Mezo. (some other member will clarify this) but i do know the earlier bikes are more powerful than the later bikes.

As said before about the specs on the net, can it be strusted.
It says 45 hp and 34KW with 27 mm´s dual stage Teikei carbs for the 43F and 34L bikes.
For the 2KF, it says 40 hp with 27 mm´s dual stage Teikei carbs.
Another example why I don´t trust this specs is, it also says drum brake for the 2KF, has a pic on a disc
brake and my 2KF frame have a disc mounting bracket in the rear.

Question, what´s the advantage/disadvantage with longer forks?
Why I ask is that my 2KF forks are 70 mm longer then the 43F one.
790mm and 860mm.
