Post by shivadread »

Hi
Wonder if anybody can tell me where I can source a Generator Coil Pack for a XT600 1984 model as my bike died on me the other day and have been told that this has burnt out.

Need one desperatly as I use this bike everyday to get to work.

Any help greatly appreciated

Looking on the internet I think it's proper name is a Stator, does it have to be year specific, apparently the one I have has 7 wires coming out of it

Have a look at this page, i was searching for the same thing & found myself coming straight back to our own forum.

I think this is what your searching for (buy now) or there is an auction for one ending in six days which will possibly/certainly be cheaper, so if you win it there`s still delivery (another week?)

Its always good to keep one of these & a CDI & coil as spares especially if its your daily rider.

Thanks for this Mezo, now I have a dillema whether to get my old one reconditioned or risk buying one of ebay that may not work.
I'm going to my mechanic at lunchtime to make sure that this is the part that has burnt out and have a chat with him, whichever one I choose is cheaper than an OEM which I have been quoted as costing £475.

Alternator Stator, one of the same thing in my Clymer Manual.
CDI Magneto, as in my yamaha workshop manual.
Big lump on left of crank!

OEM which I have been quoted as costing £475. :omg:

Question

if its getting rewound, is it worth (possible) looking at getting a higher output from it perhaps allowing for extras,eg; sat nav, heated handle bar grips, bla bla bla?
I'm no auto electrician (well not at all) but this might entail upgrade of other parts R/R for example.

Good Luck

Its a shame your needing one urgently, its a dilemma for sure.

On that thought of a higher output,,,you could have the two spare pegs wound couldn't you? if you get my drift? this is nothing to do with your problem now i was just thinking out loud regarding these stators, there are two pegs just sitting there with no windings.
