tank rust

Hi all,
i got a tank with rust in it, i saw somewhere in this forum that por 15 or was it 50 is the best suited to the job but how good is it?.
Has any one used it. This is a farily rusty tank.
Also the inlet rubber on the carb split . Nice shinny new ones arrived this week from flea bay and the quality was a bit shit but ok ,they were
priced in the middle of the ones available . The fit was not easy, the one with the vacum tube was fine but the other was so bloody tight .
I got it on by pressing it straight on to the carb in a wood work vise. Should this rubber be slightly bigger to allow for the bigger carb. I ask
because the rubbers that were on there wern't the right ones as they had a blanked off holes in the top of them.

You can get the rust out with acid,if its heavy and needs some help some nuts and bolts shaken about should help.
I don't think I would seal the tank unless its actualy leaking,or beyond brazing up small holes.

that sounds a lot cheaper, what sort of acid, sulphuric? and how long would this take. would i need to neutralize the acid after with something or just rinse out with petrol.

Get white vinegar (distilled) cheap and safer than acid, fill the tank and leave for a couple of days or so,
then flush with clean water till no vinegar smell,leave to dry or use a hairdryer to speed the drying up a bit ,
and to stop it rusting fill it up with petrol !!

It works a treat, i have done three tanks now with vunegar only cost £17uk for 46 500ml bottles,
thats from sai*****ys, a cash and carry would be cheaper
