bike starting problem

Have to say i havn,t checked that, checked the floats were working by blowing down petrol inlet whilst moveing them up and down with float bowl off and checked jets were clean but thats it.

Well if any shit has gone through the fuel pump the next place is that filter, undo the screw grab a set of pliers & wiggle left to right & pulling at the same time & it will pop out, they are in there good.

Well have to say thanks to all for there suggestions and a real big thanks to mezo, you cracked it mate. filter in carb was so full of shit i could hardly see through it,
I should of realised from the poor flow when i drained the float bowl last time. (didnt mention that before did i.) Bike started up first go !!. I hoped it would stop the back fire in the silencer on throttling off but it didnt. any way big thanks to all .

Good news.

The popping/backfiring when you shut off the gas could be a worn out diaphragm on the left side of the carby, its a small dome about the size of your thumb, have you delved in there? that stops the bike popping on decel.

Also check the pilot jet, if it is blocked they pop like hell on decel and run lean on idle.

Yeah mezo, i did check that small daiphram on the side after reading a post on the forum (pingy spring right) and it was intact but seemed a bit stiff and not as flexible as
i exspeted.
Also had checked the pilot jet was clear last time eric, but always good to know the possible causes of this backfire as my silencer is staight through at the moment so its
pretty loud!. Gonna get a baffle made and put some wadding in it when i have some spare cash and bike of the road again.

So if your pipe is straight though id guess lack of back pressure is causing the popping & backfire.
