Well lads, have managed to do a little more :
Assemble and paint motor<



Also straitened repainted the rack and refitted and cleaned the tool box



Next I have to do the forks and triple clamps.

Very nice, you know the OEM toolkit is still available from CSML? i know its anal but how far do you want to go Bernie?

Im thinking if & when you ever sell this gemstone you can say "its even comes with the original toolkit"

Well, after a big gap in motivation and other distraction I had some "free time " toiday and thought I would try and get it together!!


The operating table is prepared with a soft blanket



The frame is positioned in the "prone position"


The motor is offered up and bolted in position


Easily lifted to the upright position


Fit the oil tank, air box and battery box


Position the frame ot the rear of the stand and fit swing arm and rear wheel



New sprockets and gold oring chain (39/15)



Fit oil cooler



Slide bike to the front of the stand and easily slip in front forks and fit wheel (note the boots from Kedo)

At this pointy I simply lowered the bike lift and then the bike was rolling !!! But my phone went flat so no more pics yet. At least I feel I hav emade some progress!! The boss vcame home from Cirque de Sole ans said "is that ANOTHER bike"!!! "Of course not" just some parts I already had that I am putting together for the Tenere 30th aniversary ride" this seemed to satisfy for the moment!!

Looking good Bern, looks like fitting the engine lying down seems easy ish (ok you have a surgery bed and no handle bars/forks)

whats the generall thought on best way to fit engine, i fitted in twice now with the bike on side stand lifting with little car hydrolic jack and lost it once with engine crashing down

I just dropped the frame over the motor when built mine bck up from scratch.done the trolley jack bit when had motor out last winter to attend to gearbox..the motor is a little chunky..

I did my 3AJ rebuild the same way as Bernie, the frame weighs nothing & is easily slid in to place with no damage, its a one man job doing it this way with no huffing or puffing involved.
