I keep that in mind. 8.8 and 10.9.
I will collect information about that issue.

The doublepiston caliper is also common on the old YZ 250/490. That way I found mine. There was a guy selling YZ items.
I wrote a message to him and he said: " Sure, theres a good caliper in a box in my shed. You can have it"
I like these deals.

I found out that Yamaha did some changes to the 3SW fork. The axle from the 59X seems to be a bit to short.

The TT has got a very simple equipment with it.
Speedo without any lights
One will never know the kilometers the bike has been driven...


I added an oiltank from the later italien sister. (TT 600 4WL by Belgarda) just to have a little more oil with me.

Yamaha changed these little bastards aswell.


Damm, the ones on the left were like new but to short. There was a change done on the topend. I think around 1990.
So many little traps to step into.
So I rattled the rattlecan... and took the originals.

Nice project Fred,I know what you mean about these old 1980's thumpers,they get to you.I almost bought a DRZ400 before I got my 1985 XT600,my bike also smoked when I bought it but more like my old 250LC
I'm thinking of fitting a tenere 34L tank & seat to my XT600 43F bike,I'm not sure if I could afford to fill it though

Exhaust manifold.... hmmmm.... header.....

I want a stainless steel one. Because it won´t rott away. The aftermarket parts are way to expensive and I don´t want more power/noise. (trouble with cops, TÜV, etc, etc, everything in germany is very restricted... )
The italien TT-sister again provides a good quality, cheap, easy to find, exhaust manifold. There are serveral on Ebay for around 50 Euros. I got one from a 4WL. 4WL is written on the pipe... but that part of the pipe has to be cut away anyway. (again the evil german TÜV will go nuts and you won´t get a little sticker on your numberplate. Reading this I know now why you all out there are thinking "funny germans" about us. It´s all so strange over here...

Here you see the mountingpoint for the muffler. The thread is about 4 to 5 cm away from the mountingpoint on the frame.
By this amount the header had to be cut:
